Privacy, in plain words.

AVAS Automation is the business name of Avas and Concepts Inc. This page explains what personal information we collect through our website, why, and the choices you have, under Canada's privacy law (PIPEDA).

Last updated October 2026

1. What we collect

Information you give us

  • Consult and assessment requests: your name, phone number, email address and anything you tell us about your home or system.
  • Phone calls, emails and messages: your number, address or social media name and what you tell us, so we can help you.
  • Forms inside our ads: if you fill in a form inside Facebook, Instagram or Google, that platform shares what you entered with us.
  • Existing clients: when you contact client support, the details needed to help with your system.

Information collected automatically

  • Website analytics: pages viewed, time on page, the device and browser you use, your approximate location (city level, from your IP address) and how you arrived, for example a search, an ad or a social media link. We use Google Analytics through the Google tag for this.
  • Advertising data: when advertising tags are active on the website, information about your visit (pages viewed, actions such as calling or sending a form, and your device and browser) is shared with the ad platform so we can measure our ads and show them to the right people (see section 6).
  • Cookies and similar technologies: small files and identifiers that help the website work, count visits and measure ads (see section 5).

We do not ask for and do not want sensitive information through the website, such as financial, health or identity documents. Please do not include alarm codes, door codes, passwords or Wi-Fi keys in a form, message or email; we will ask for anything we need through a secure channel.

2. Why we use it

  • To reply to your request, book a consult or assessment, prepare a proposal, and deliver and support your project.
  • To run, secure, speed up and improve the website, and to understand which pages and services people are interested in.
  • To measure whether our ads work and to show our ads to people likely to be interested in our services (section 6).
  • To keep business, accounting and legal records, and to protect our rights.
  • With your consent, to send you news or offers (section 7).

We only use your information for these purposes, or for a new purpose you agree to.

3. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers and partners that help us run the business, and only what they need:

  • Website hosting and our form tool, which store website requests.
  • Jobber, our quoting and scheduling system, when a request becomes a consult or a project.
  • Google (Analytics, Ads, Maps and YouTube) for website statistics, ad measurement, directions and the videos on our pages.
  • Meta (Facebook and Instagram) for our ads and social media pages.
  • Trustindex, which displays our Google reviews on the website.
  • Email and phone providers we use to talk with you.

Google and Meta also use the information they receive under their own privacy policies. We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or safety, or as part of a sale or reorganization of the business, in which case the new owner must protect it as this policy describes.

Some of these providers store information outside Canada, mainly in the United States. When information is outside Canada, it may be accessible to courts, law enforcement and national security authorities of that country. We choose providers that protect information with care comparable to ours.

4. How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, including our legal, tax and warranty records. Website and ad form requests that do not become a project are deleted when we no longer need them. Analytics and advertising data is kept by Google and Meta according to the retention settings we choose and their own policies, and we do not use it to identify you.

5. Cookies, caching and similar technologies

The website uses three kinds of cookies and similar technologies:

  • Necessary: they make the website and its forms work and keep it secure.
  • Analytics: Google Analytics counts visits and shows us how the website is used.
  • Advertising: when active, tags from Meta and Google (such as the Meta Pixel and the Google Ads tag) measure our ads and help show them to people who visited the website.

Caching: to make pages load fast, our hosting stores copies of our pages and images (server caching), and your browser keeps some files on your device (browser cache). Cached pages do not contain your personal information. You can clear your browser's cache and cookies at any time in its settings.

Videos on our pages use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, so YouTube does not set its cookies until you press play. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout). The website still works without analytics or advertising cookies.

6. Our advertising

We advertise our services on platforms such as Facebook and Instagram (Meta), Google Search, YouTube and other Google sites. To do this:

  • Measurement: tags on the website, and server connections such as Meta's Conversions API, can tell the ad platform that someone who saw or clicked our ad then visited the website, called us or sent a form, so we know which ads work. The platforms report this to us as totals, not as your identity.
  • Remarketing: people who visited the website may later see our ads on those platforms.
  • Audiences: we may ask the platforms to show our ads to people with similar interests or in our service areas. If we ever use a contact list to do this, it is converted into a scrambled code (hashed) before it is shared, and the platform uses it only to match accounts and then discards it.
  • Your choices: you can control the ads you see in your Facebook and Instagram ad preferences, in Google's My Ad Center (myadcenter.google.com), through the Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada (youradchoices.ca), and by blocking cookies in your browser or limiting ad tracking on your phone. Turning these off does not stop ads, it makes them less tailored to you.

We do not use sensitive information for advertising and we do not aim ads at children.

7. Email and text messages

Asking for a consult lets us reply to you about that request. We will only send you marketing email or text messages, such as news or offers, if you agree to receive them or Canada's anti-spam law (CASL) otherwise allows it, and every message will tell you who it is from and include an easy way to unsubscribe. We act on an unsubscribe within 10 business days.

8. Social media and reviews

When you follow, message, comment on or tag our pages on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok or LinkedIn, those platforms' own privacy policies apply, and we see what you share with us there. Reviews you leave on Google are public; we may show them on the website and in our marketing with your name as it appears on the review.

9. Photos and videos of our work

We photograph and film our own work, such as equipment, wiring, racks and finished rooms, never the people in your home, and we never show or mention your address. How this works for your project, and how to tell us you would rather not be filmed, is explained in the terms of your quote. You can opt out at any time and we will stop and take down anything we posted.

10. Security

We use reasonable physical, technical and administrative safeguards to protect personal information, and we limit access to the people who need it. No website or online system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee it. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the Privacy Commissioner as PIPEDA requires.

11. Your choices and rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent to a use of it (we will explain any effect, for example if we can no longer serve you). Contact our Privacy Officer below. We will reply within 30 days. We may need to confirm your identity first.

If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca).

12. Children

The website and our ads are meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

13. Changes

We will update this policy when our practices change and change the date at the top. Important changes will be made clear on this page.
