Systems That Were Left Behind

Every takeover starts with one of these. If any of them sound like your home, you are in the right place.

Most Common

The Installer Disappeared

The company that built your system closed, sold, or stopped calling back. It still half works, and nobody can help.

You Bought The House

The smart home came with the keys, but not the passwords, the app, or anyone who knows it.

A Rack Like A Bird's Nest

Unlabelled cables, no documentation, and equipment running hot on a shelf.

It Never Worked Right

Scenes fire the wrong lights, buttons do nothing, and the installer called it done.

Outdated And Stuck

Old software that will not talk to new cameras, streaming services, or your phone.

Cameras That Do Not Cover

Security gear placed where it looked tidy, not where it protects you. We rebuild it with AI detection and active deterrence.

Before & After

Same Wall. Different Standard.

A real in-wall rack we took over. Same wall, same enclosure, same home. The difference is how it was done.

  • Every loose cable traced, bundled, and dressed
  • Every device mounted in the rack, nothing hanging
  • Nothing spilling out of the wall or onto the floor
  • Labelled, so any technician can service it

A Real Rescue

Cut Lines. Fixed The Same Day.

A crew moving a basketball court dug too far and tore through everything buried near the house: low voltage, high voltage, and a water pipe that flooded the hole.

On a large estate, the gate cameras and the video doorbell were hit hardest. We spliced the damaged camera and doorbell lines with waterproof connectors and had the cameras and doorbell working again the same day.

Every Takeover, Every Time

What A Takeover Includes

We do not patch one symptom and leave. We take ownership of the whole system and bring it up to the AVAS standard.

  • A free on site assessment of the whole system
  • Your Control4 account moved to AVAS, with your approval
  • Passwords and access recovered, so it is yours again
  • Software updated and programming rebuilt around you
  • Wiring dressed and labelled at both ends
  • Documentation handed over: equipment list and connection map
Why Service Comes First
Our Service Promise

We Don't Walk Away

Every system on this page was left behind by someone. That is exactly why service sits at the centre of how AVAS works.

“I don't care if that visit ended up costing us money and cost the customer zero dollars. At the end of the day, we do what's right and we keep that customer happy.”

Once we take over your system, you get a dedicated service line, remote support, and a team that already knows your home.

Questions

System Takeover FAQ

Yes. Taking over inherited and orphaned systems is exactly what this service is for. It usually happens after buying a home that came with a smart home already installed, or when the original installer stopped answering. We start with a free system assessment, where we look at every controller, keypad, touchscreen, camera, and network device, and tell you plainly what works, what does not, and what it will take to fix it. With your approval, your Control4 account is then moved to AVAS, so we can access the system, update it, and support it remotely. From there we fix what is broken, program the system around how you actually live, and hand you full documentation. You end up with a system that works, a team that knows it, and one number to call when you need help.

Your system keeps running, but without support every small problem turns into a big one. Updates stop, passwords get lost, and nobody knows how it was built. The good news is that the equipment does not belong to the old company. It belongs to you, and another certified dealer can take it over. We assess the system on site, work with you to transfer your Control4 account to AVAS, and recover access to the network and connected devices wherever possible. Then we bring everything up to our standard: current software, clean and labelled wiring, reliable networking, and programming that makes sense. Once the takeover is complete, you get documentation of the whole system and ongoing support from our team, so you are never stuck in this position again.

In most cases, yes. Having the original project file makes a takeover faster, so we always ask the previous installer for it when they can still be reached. When it is missing, we can rebuild the programming from what is actually installed in the home. We identify every device on site, confirm how it is connected, and recreate the rooms, scenes, schedules, and remotes you rely on. Rebuilding is often a good moment to fix the things that never worked right, like scenes that fire the wrong lights or buttons nobody uses. Before we start, you get a clear plan of what we will rebuild, what we recommend improving, and what the finished system will do, so there are no surprises along the way.

No. A takeover is not a sales pitch for a new system. Most of the equipment in a working smart home can be kept, and we treat reusing what you already own as the starting point. During the assessment we check every device and sort it into three groups: keep as it is, keep but update or reprogram, and replace because it is failing, unsupported, or holding the rest of the system back. You see that list before any work begins, with the reason behind every recommendation. Where something does need replacing, we explain the options and the order that makes sense, so you can fix the urgent problems first and plan the rest. The goal is a reliable system you can trust, not the biggest possible invoice.

Every AVAS takeover follows the same process. First, a free on site assessment of the whole system, including the rack, network, controllers, keypads, cameras, and audio. Second, access and accounts: we transfer your Control4 account to AVAS with your approval and recover or reset passwords so you own your system again. Third, the fix: updates, repairs, and programming rebuilt around how you live. Fourth, the cleanup: wiring dressed, labelled at both ends, and the rack organized so it runs cool and any technician can service it. Fifth, documentation handed to you, including an equipment list and a map of what connects where. Finally, ongoing support with remote help and a dedicated service line, so the system stays working long after we leave.

A service call fixes one problem. A takeover fixes the reason the problems keep coming back. If a single keypad stopped working in a system that is otherwise well built and documented, a service call is the right answer. If you are dealing with several issues at once, a missing installer, lost passwords, a tangled rack, or a system that has never worked quite right, patching one symptom at a time costs more in the long run. A takeover looks at the whole system, from the network and wiring to the programming and accounts, and rebuilds the foundation so it stays reliable. At the end you have documentation, a clean install, and a team that knows your home, which makes every future service call faster and simpler.
